Unit of Inquiry
We took up the gravity fill in the blank worksheet and discussed why some of the words students chose did not make sense in the sentence they placed that word in.
What we LOVE about SJA!
As a fun littler activity leading us up to Valentine's Day, students thought about what they LOVE about St. Jude's and wrote their own personal messages on hearts. Check out our class door to see all of the things students and teachers love about SJA! Once they finished the hearts they wanted to decorate they read silently or with a partner.
Speeches
This morning we had our speech competition! WOW! All of our SJA contestants from Grades 1, 2 and 3 did so well! It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of everyone to present their speeches. All of the Grade 3s did a terrific job; I certainly would not have wanted to be one of the judges. A special great job to Evan, Leah and Sami who competed today! Congratulations to Sami who placed FIRST!
Inquiry into Math
I took up all of the students homework from last night and provided them with feedback on where to make corrections. After going back to correct any questions circled, students continued to work on their packages. I did a little review on how to use long division since they need to use it when they convert from improper fraction to mixed fraction. I am so proud of how well they did self-teaching themselves how to solve these problems. We will take up the word problem tomorrow. It does require higher-level thinking so I am excited to see the work they come back with.
Agenda
- Spelling test tomorrow
- Math: Finish the fractions package
- French homework
- Bring back re-registration packages by Feb. 18th
