2019 - 2020 Schedule

Welcome to Grade 3!

I am excited to welcome you to our Grade Three class at St. Jude’s Academy! Your child will be taught French by Mme. Rawan, Gym by Ms. Emily Vasconcelos, Music by Mrs. Ann McMillan and all other subject areas will be taught by myself, Ms. Caterina Foti!

Before I continue, let me introduce myself. My name is Ms. Foti and this is my second year teaching Grade 3 at St. Jude’s Academy. Yaaaay!! I completed my undergraduate degree with a background in Psychology and Sociology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, and then went on to complete my Bachelor of Education at OISE. I have also completed my Special Education, Reading and Mathematics additional qualifications. I strive to create an environment where my students feel safe, valued, and reflected in everything we do. With this, I hope that the environment I create for my students positively impacts their attitudes towards learning and overall interactions in society. I also hope to inspire my students to develop a love for learning that continues to flourish as they grow up. I believe in focusing on the development of the whole child in my teachings; their social, emotional, physical, mental and academic well-being as all of these factors contribute to their overall growth. Amongst all of this, I believe in ongoing communication between all parties involved in the success of my students. I look forward to meeting all of you very soon and learning more about the uniqueness of your children!

Library
A note from the LIBRARIAN, MS. HAYWARD!!

Hello!  I hope everyone has had a great summer and are excited for back to school. I am looking forward to a great third year in the St. Jude's Academy Library.

We accomplished a lot last year in the library.  We cataloged over 2,300 books in our collection.  We had successful Recess Readers sessions. We started out LIT Club (library helpers). Our Enchanted Forest Book Fair was a huge success allowing us to get over $2,400 worth of new books and resources for the library.  The Library also held some fun contests. And, of course, we checked out a lot of books for the voracious readers at SJA.

I hope to continue all these things and more. Please check out (and follow) the library blog at www.sjalibrary.wordpress.com for all things library and literacy related. See you soon!
