Unit of Inquiry
We learned about natural forces and the effects they have on society. While discussing some natural forces that exist, such as wind, fog, lightening, etc., this brought us on to the topic of wildfires. At first most of us thought that wildfires were a bad thing, however after watching a video, it did inform us of some of the positive effects of wildfires. After watching the video, students worked in groups to reflect on what they learned about wildfires, along with how what we can do to prevent wildfires from spreading.

Inquiry into Math
In math, students worked on adding and subtracting decimals through word problems. This morning I went through all of their homework to check-in on their understanding of adding and subtracting decimals and THEY DID GREAT! When adding and subtracting they made sure to line up their decimals. Students completed some questions from their workbooks. For homework they have to complete a worksheet, front and back with word problems. Grade 3 friends, make sure you stop to interpret the information and numbers in the problem.

Inquiry into Language
In language we began to write our narratives today. We started with identifying the elements of a narrative to ensure we include all of these elements in our brainstorm. Once we have these items written down in our brainstorm map it will make it easier for us to write our narrative. Most students began to write their narrative draft, ensuring they skip lines to leave space when they go back to revise and edit it. We will be continuing with this tomorrow.
