Year Ahead Day!
Today was year ahead day. Our class was in Ms. Samuel's Grade 4 class. Check out her blog to see what they did today. https://mssamuelsja.blogspot.com/
Ms. Hughes class joined my class for Grade 3 today! Take a look at what we did! They also got to experience Gym at the Dome so don't forget to check out Ms. Vasconcelos blog to see what they did there!

Inquiry into Math
We started our morning off with a game of addition and subtraction SCOOT! Students moved to the next addition or subtraction problem to solve it on their answer sheet after they heard me shout the word "SCOOT". First we reviewed how to add and subtract three-digit numbers. Then they got to practice adding and subtracting 2-and-3- digit numbers through a fun game. The top three students for this game got 5 house points!

Inquiry into Language
We completed a fun creative writing activity today. This was a little challenging for some of us as it was hard to move away from the typical writing process we're used to where we begin by planning and organizing what we're going to write about. After they completed the first paragraph and some shared what they wrote, it made it a little easier for us to see how to have fun with this activity. Some of the feedback I got from the "Grade 3s" were that they really liked this activity and that "it let all my ideas keep coming from my brain." Below you will find the rules and some examples of their writing.

Unit of Inquiry
At the end of the day we explored some of the forces we learn about in Grade 3. We didn't have enough time to work through the whole package as we were curious with the things we discovered through the experiments. We got to explore buoyancy, gravity, static electricity and magnetism. If you'd like, you can also try those activities at home to see what happens.
Thank you for joining me in Grade 3 today! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!
See you all tomorrow!
