Inquiry into Language
We reviewed the components of a letter and discussed the success criteria that should be included if we want to have a well-written letter. Once we came up with this success criteria, students began to write their letters to their "cousin" who is coming to stay at their house for a week and we want to make sure they know all of the rules and routines of your house.
Unit of Inquiry
We reviewed what we talked about yesterday regarding stress, and built on this concept by discussing what we have control over and what we don't have control over. Some of the things we DO have control over are our actions, thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Some of the things we DO NOT have control over are the environment, the future, our friends and our parents. In addition to this, we discussed what some of our triggers of stress can be: those things that make us feel angry, frustrated or nervous. Lastly, the fun part! Students brainstormed a stressful situation that they experience often. With this situation, they had to identify actions they can take to control the situation, and actions they can take if they don't have control over that situation. This action plan will be going in their scrapbook. The students shared some personal situations that allowed us to discuss how we can gain control over that situation and what they can do if they cannot gain control over it.
Inquiry into Math
Our Math review was handed out today! We went through the review together and students circled any questions they thought would be challenging for them. Once they began to work on the reviews, they were instructed to tackle those challenging questions first since they could come to me for help. The review is due tomorrow as we will be taking it up in class.
