Mindfulness Summative Supplies
We will continue to work on our summative this week. Students are encouraged to reflect on the supplies they will need to complete their summative and purchase these over the course of the week. They will resume working on their scrapbooks on Wednesday. Some suggestions are:
- Magazines for letters
- Photos that represent a topic that will be included in their scrapbook
- Stickers & Letters for titles
- Crafty paper
Inquiry into Math
Today we dove a little deeper into number patterns in charts by looking at the relationship between the term number and term value. Sometimes, there is a relationship between the term number and term value, and sometimes there isn't. Typically, the relationship occurs when the their is a scenario that the data derives from. Ex: My term number could be represent Number of Bikes - and my term value would represent the Number of Wheels.
We completed some examples together, one with a relationship between the term number and term value, and one without that relationship. When doing so, we:
- described the pattern by identifying the type of pattern it is
- Identified the pattern rule
- Identified whether there was a relationship between the term number and term value, and if so, what was that relationship.
- Brainstormed how to solve a later term in that number pattern (If there's no relationship, you can either extend your table of values to solve for the later term, if there is a relationship you would apply that relationship to your term number to solve the term value).
Unit of Inquiry
Today we talked about what dreams and aspirations are, they we went off to write down some of our near and far dreams and aspirations. Once we completed this activity, we spent some time working on our scrapbooks.
In addition to this, we got to express our differences in a fun way, and share our partners belief on that topic to the class. Students were put into two circles, and inside and and outside circle. With the person in front of them, they had to discuss the topics that I gave them and express what their opinion was on that topic. Once some of them got to share their partners opinions with the class, one of the circles rotated and a new topic was assigned.
Yoga!!!
We had our first Yoga session today and it went FANTASTIC! The students were so engaged and worked really hard at trying to do the poses our instructor taught them. Some of the poses they learned were the downward dog and tiger pose. They even got to try the double downward dog and double elephant. One of the big focuses we will continue to practice in class is belly breathing. They seem to have really enjoyed our first yoga class. I look forward to the next one!
Agenda
- Read for 25 minutes
- Cursive writing pgs. 24 - 27
- Spelling Lesson 9 + Sentences
- Bring any scrapbook supplies

Students were then put into groups, where they had to go around and solve the 7 tasks that were put out for them to solve. They had to work together as a team to solve the problems, and help explain the concepts again to their teammates that may not have really understood what to do or how to do it.
