Inquiry into Language:
Today we learned about Point of View (P.O.V) through a rap song. We learned the different pronouns that are used to help us identify whether a text is written in first person, second person or third person. We then listened to a read aloud called "We Share Everything" by Robert Munsch. After listening to this story we identified which point of view it was written in. Some of us thought it was first person since there were quotes using the word "I". We discussed how just because there are quotes in first person, which they typically are since it's someone speaking, that doesn't mean the full text is in first person. We have to pay attention to pronouns that are used in the rest of the text. In this story, it had sound effect words which are called Onomatopoeia. We had fun coming up with sound effect words.

Inquiry into Math:
Today we learned about stem-and-leaf plots and how to organize our data points in a stem-and-leaf plot. First, we gathered class data by doing jumping jacks for one minute. We recorded each of our results in our box to represent our data. Using this data, we organized these points in a stem and leaf plot by showing which digits represent the stem and which represent the leaf. In our "leaf" slot it's important to remember that we can only have 1 digit (typically our ones unless there are decimals).

We then looked at how to interpret data points from a stem-and-leaf plot. Using the information in our stem-and-leaf plot we solved what the median, mode and range was for our data. We then worked on interpreting data from an already finished stem-and-leaf plot, along with creating our own stem-and-leaf plot when provided with the data.

Unit of Inquiry:
We continued examining our 5 main genres in reading and writing. Today we organized the sub-genres alongside the 5 main ones. Using our coloured flip book, we recorded the definition of each genre. Then we cut out the features for each sub-genre and glued these in the corresponding spots. We will continue to paste these in our coloured flip-books, then further explore books to solve which genre they fall under.

AGENDA:
- Math: Stem-and-leaf Plot
- Language: Point of View and Onomatopoeia worksheet
- Read for 25 minutes
- Spelling Lesson 13 + Sentences
