French: Take a look at Mme. Stella's blog https://stjudesfrench-stella.blogspot.com
Silent Reading and Reading Buddies:
Students read their reading level novel for about 15 minutes. Students then joined Ms. Gandy's Grade 1 class for reading buddies. While the Grade 1s are working on reading comprehension, they Grade 3s are learned how to help explain concepts and monitor the comprehension of their reading buddies. This will help the Grades practice and learn new comprehension strategies that they can use when they encounter a challenging text.
RECESS/ LUNCH
Inquiry into Math:
As a class we took up our math word problems from yesterday by taking turns reading the question, sharing the steps they took and stating the answer. When students disagreed with the answer, we did these questions on the board to determine what the answer was. The students did very well at staying on task and correcting their work when it needed to be done. We then did two division examples together to explain to the students that the divisor and the quotient (which are both numbers outside your house) should multiply to the number inside your house. If there is a remainder, first you multiply those two numbers, then you add the remainder to that product and it should equal the number inside your house.
Students then went on to work on their homework. All sheets in their division and multiplication package should be completed by tomorrow.
Unit of Inquiry:
Students continued to work on their summative assignments today. Most students began to build their devices. All materials were due today, however some of us could not continue designing our devices since we did not have all of our required materials. All materials are due in class tomorrow so that students can complete their devices and begin to try them out.
RECESS/ LUNCH
Inquiry into Language:
This was our final day to work on our Science Fair Experiment. As a group we took turns assembling our display board. We reflected on the stars of our board, along with what we could do next time to make it look better. We all agreed that next time we could use brighter colours as our background paper to add more colour to it. We went over everything that is on our display board as a class to prepare for tomorrow. We will have some time to practice this again tomorrow to ensure we cover all required elements.
AGENDA:
- Math: Division and Multiplication word problems worksheets (package due tomorrow)
- Read for 25 minutes-- will share what they read about in tomorrows class
- Spelling Test tomorrow
