We continued with our UOI summative. Some of us have finished our summative task and will be reviewing it tomorrow to ensure we have gone over all of our success criteria. Tomorrow will be the last day to work on our summatives.
Inquiry into Language:
We started to learn about all the different components of a letter. We had a pretty good idea of what a letter should include, it was just the terminology we weren't so familiar with. We talked about how all letters should have a date, salutation/greeting, body, closing and signature. With this we looked at an example of a letter and labeled where each of these components were through a cut-and-paste activity. We will be working on letter writing over the next week as this was part of our OWA.
All of us got to select a book at our reading level. This book will be brought home each day, and is expected to be brought back to school the next day. The reason for this is so that we can continue our book reading at home and in class. These books will be the ones we will be reading at silent reading time. While some of us like to pick our own books from home or the library (which I highly encourage as this engages us in reading), I am also asking that we each read a book at our reading level to ensure we are not always reading books that are too easy/too hard for us. I'm excited to hear about the books everyone is reading!

Inquiry into Math:
This was a review class of the concepts we have learned over the past couple days. We began by taking up some of our homework from last night. Everyone displayed a fantastic understanding of the 3 different types of patterns and how we continue these patterns. In addition to this we looked at the variety of different rules and how solving the rule helps us continue the pattern.
We then did a work problem together where it required us to organize our information in a table to help us solve for the __ term in the pattern. We solved this problem together as a class and emphasized the step where we have to solve the rule. Note: the arrows on the side need to go between the two numbers as noted yesterday. This example helped us see how we can determine how far our table needs to go. We then worked on a reflection piece that involved explaining the 3 different types of patterns using words and numbers. For homework students are to complete the one worksheet that revolves around using tables to organize patterns.
