Inquiry into Language:
Students silently read their levelled books for about 15 minutes, then we joined Ms. Gandy's class for reading buddies. The Grade 3s did really well at explaining words that some of the Grade 1s did not know in their books.

RECESS/LUNCH

Inquiry into Math:
This morning I got the chance to go through all of the completed reviews to see what concepts some of us needed some explaining on/practice completing. The students did very well at showing their work to solve a problem. The one thing I emphasized was if they couldn't use numbers to show what they did as they claim to have done mental math, then I want them to explain in words what they did. I found that the students explained their process very well in words, so if they can write that down at least that shows me the steps they had to go through to get from the beginning to the solution of a problem.
This was a work period for everyone to review my comments and go back and correct the answers I  circled as those were incorrect. Some of us still aren't fully reading the instructions so we have left some information out. This was highlighted for the students to see. I had conferences with each student to go over the sections they made mistakes to ensure they now understood the concept. Once they finished reviewing their reviews they completed some practice questions to emphasis the concepts that will be on the test a little more.
Some of us have brought a worksheet home. This is an optional practice sheet with similar questions to what will be on our test. I highly encourage students to complete these questions, or at least the ones I marked with a star as it will give them more opportunity to practice what they know and become confident in their steps.

RECESS/ LUNCH

Unit of Inquiry/ Language:
Today we defined what Force and Movement mean and recorded the definitions in our duo tangs. We then worked individually and came up with 5 questions we have about forces. We recorded these in our duo tangs as well. Once we find out the answers to these questions we have to go back and record them underneath the questions.

Once we finished coming up with our questions, we continued to work on making the poorly written letter about swimming rules and routines better. We had to add information to this letter and ensure we were only talking about the rules and routines of going swimming at a swimming pool. Students were to ensure that they correctly inputted all of the 5 letter components we've talked about. We will review these on Monday then move on to addressing what "rules" and "routines" mean.

AGENDA
- Math: Test Monday, Practice sheet
- Read for 25 minutes

Have a Great Weekend!!!
