·         Emergency contact info (other than parent/guardian)
·         3 sets of initials on the tuition fee schedule (one for payment plan, and two at the bottom)
·         Completed payment methods form (parent name(s), student name(s), banking info (or void cheque), selecting business or personal use, and signature

Please ensure that you are returning:
·         Signed application form (indicate any changes to information)
·         Signed re-registration agreement
·         Completed and signed health history form
·         Completed and signed photo permission form
·         Completed and signed payment methods form

Unit of Inquiry
We explored magnetism today by walking around the school and identifying objects that are magnetic along with those that are not. While doing this some questions came up such as, why does one magnet attract to a door knob but the other does not? Hmmm... I'm not sure. Let's find out on Tuesday!

Inquiry into Math
We briefly learned a little about decimals. First we looked at identifying the place values of a number including the place value of numbers with decimals. We discovered that the place values after the decimal are somewhat a reflection of the place values to the left of the decimal place.

Using a number line, we identified the ten ticks that are between two whole numbers when identifying to the nearest tenth or hundredth. If you're identifying a number to the nearest tenth, you will only have one digit to the right of the decimal. If you're identifying a number to the nearest hundredth, you will have two digits to the right of the decimal. On one of the worksheets the students have to identify the fraction and decimal of the picture representation. I have not taught this to them yet, however similar to how they solved mixed and improper fractions, I want them to use the example to teach themselves how to solve the fraction and decimal representation of a model (picture).

Language & 100th Day of School
Some of you may have seen this article in the news https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/wwii-vet-fred-arsenault-turning-100-birthday-1.5451523. This article states that a WW II veteran by the name of Fred Arsenault will be celebrating his 100th birthday in March and is hoping to receive 100 birthday cards as his time at war made him realize the significance behind receiving a letter. The Grade 3s each made their own birthday cards/ letters to send to Mr. Arsenault. I cannot wait for him to receive our letters!
In the afternoon students completed a writing activity of what they hope to have accomplished by the time they are 100 Years old. These will be displayed outside our classroom next week.

Valentine's Day
Students selected names out of a box and they had to write a compliment about that person on the scratch hearts they were provided with. We went over some examples of really general comments and more specific ones so the students knew to write a specific compliment to their peers. Take a look at most of the compliments below!!💖💖 Unfortunately some of the videos aren't uploading. I will keep trying to get them up here!

Agenda
- Read for 25 minutes
- Math package due Tuesday
- UOI Magnetism worksheet
