Inquiry into Language
We had reading buddies with Ms. Gandy's class today. Once we returned, students began to work on their spelling homework. Our spelling test is on Thursday this week since we will not have time to complete it on Friday.

Inquiry into Math
Today was a continuation from Friday's class, where we continued to express time in a variety of ways. Students learned how to use words to represent time. Ex. 18 before 3 = 2:42.
When solving time using the statement " __ before __"  you have to subtract the number of minutes before the hour from 60 since there are 60 minutes in an hour.
Note: When using the phrase "___ before ___" the digit that represents the hour of that time is always one less than the value that is there.
Ex. 21 before 8 = 7:39
When using the phrase "___ after ___" it is quite simple. The hour is the hour stated in the phrase, and so is the minutes
Ex. 17 after 6 = 6:17

Unit of Inquiry
We learned all about the Forestry Community today and the impacts it has on humans, animals and the environment. As a class we read through a book about what forestry means, the types of jobs that exist and how we are impacted by this industry. We learned about how trees not only affect the air we breath but also wildlife and the condition of the water in lakes and rivers. We reflected on the importance of replacing tress once they've been chopped down to maintain the function of forests.

Agenda
- Read for 25 minutes
- Math pgs. 90 & 91
- Spelling Lesson 17
- Spelling test Thursday
- Re-registration forms due Feb.18th
