Unit of Inquiry
Today we learned about the different landform regions in Ontario: The Canadian Shield, The Hudson Bay Lowlands and the Great Lakes & St. Lawrence Lowlands. We read through an informative text on these three landform regions, then went on to work on the comprehension questions that follow. Before we began to read the text, we read through the questions we will answer to know what information to look for in the text. Keeping this in mind, while we were reading we stopped to highlight important information about each region that related to the questions we had to answer. Students then went off to work on the comprehension questions. When responding to these questions, they have to use details from the text to support their answers.
At the end of the day, we brainstormed a variety of jobs that could be found in each region based on the information we gathered this morning from each landform region. Then students completed a colouring activity where they had to colour in each of these regions on a map of Ontario.

Inquiry into Math
For math, students used the surveys they created to represent their data in a bar graph and double bar graph. We went over the success criteria for each graph to ensure students understood what is expected of them. Students got right to work on their graphs.

Christmas Concert
This afternoon we went to the Dome to watch the JK- Grade 2 concert. They were so cute and did such a terrific job performing their songs and dances. Great job everyone!
