JK- Grade 2 Christmas Concert
On December 10, 2019, students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2 will put on two performances at the St. Jude’s Dome. Our afternoon performance will begin at 1:00 pm, with doors opening at 12:30. Our evening performance will begin at 6:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:15 pm. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. Please keep in mind that outside food and drinks are not permitted in the Dome.

For our evening performance, families are welcome to take our shuttle from St. Jude’s to the Dome and back. Shuttles will begin running from 6:00-7:00 pm.

We encourage all families to come bundled up to stay warm and cozy for the entire show. The students and teachers have put a tremendous amount of work into their performances and kindly ask that all families stay and enjoy the show until the end.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Inquiry into Language
We started off with another Robert Munsch read aloud of the story Moose! After listening to this story, we had three classmates go up to present their verbal summary of the book! All of them were able to retell most of the events from the story in great detail. After listening to them, we discussed which details they included that weren't so important and therefore those shouldn't have been included in their summaries. One of the students did a F A N T A S T I C job at including only the important details.
Then we went on to a creative writing activity where students were given 3 "power words" that they had to create a paragraph with. They had to begin their paragraph with one of the three words and ensure they used the rest of the words within their paragraphs. Students were not allowed to stop writing until the 5 minutes were up. Their pencils had to keep writing. At first they thought this was going to be so hard, but after 5 minutes was up they could have kept going with their ideas. Some of us got to share our paragraphs with the class to hear all of the different ways we could use these words.

Inquiry into Math
Today was a review and lesson on how to create a pictograph. We walked through some examples of how to create a pictograph and all of the components that should be included (title, axis label, key, symbols). It's important to reflect on the data collected to determine what your key will be (the value for each symbol). We specifically went over where each of these components belong to help us better organize our data in a pictograph that is easy to interpret.

End of Day fun with Ms. Chiappetta's class
Half of the Grade 3s were away today rehearsing for the Choir performance in the JK-Grade 2 Christmas Concert, so the Grade 3s from Ms. Chiappetta's class who aren't part of the choir joined our class. We got to play some Just Dance, Charades and Multiplication games.
