Kindness Day
Today was world Kindness Day. Students filled out a couple colourful pieces of paper with kindness quotes, details on what kindness means and how we can be kind. These pieces of paper will be linked together to make a Kindness chain around the school.

Science Fair
We continued with our Science Fair trials today. We finished discussing our observations, results, conclusions and variables. Tomorrow we will assemble our board!

Unit of Inquiry
We learned about ADVERSITY today. Adversity is defined as "challenges, stress and roadblocks that get in our way." We discussed how situations of adversity can either defeat us, or make us stronger. By learning about adversity and how to deal with it, our goal is to become resilient so that we "bounce back" from challenging situations. We read through our reading on Adversity together, then discussed the situations of adversity on the back and how those individuals could feel emotionally. Rather than using the terms "good" or "bad", the students used specific feelings such as: lonely, sad, upset, frustrated, embarrassed, excluded, heart-broken, etc. When filling in their responses to these scenarios, students are required to explain why those children might feel this way. While some of these scenarios may address sensitive topics such as divorce, or a family member passing away, it's important for children to understand how these real life experiences can affect someone to not only help them if they ever experience such situations, but also to help them gain perspective of how other's may feel. On top of discussing how we may feel in such situations, it's important to reflect on how we can become resilient in such experiences to help us bounce back from the challenges and become stronger.

Yoga
We had our second Yoga class today. During this class, we nurtured trust in ourselves, and in our peers in a variety of ways: telling ourselves that we trust ourselves and love ourselves, along with engaging in activities where we need to trust our peers while engaging in yoga exercises. In addition to this, we engaged in meditation which helped us focus on our deep breathing. After the class, we reflected on how yoga makes us feel and some of the responses were: calm, it allows us to clear our mind, relaxed, it's a time for us to recharge "gain energy for after", open our hearts, love ourselves, etc.

Operation Christmas Child
The letter was sent home today, along with a list of items that CAN and CANNOT be included. Please ensure you go over this list prior to your child bringing items in. We watched a couple more videos today showing us how these boxes impacted the lives of other children. In order for us to understand what the children were saying, we had to read the subtitles since the children were speaking in different languages. The reflections we have after watching these videos warms my heart so much💗💗
