Unit of Inquiry
We reviewed and made corrections on where certain jobs belonged amongst the three Land Regions we learned about yesterday. Then, in partners, students brainstormed three additional jobs that could exist for each of these land regions. As a class, we then read about the different ways land can be used. We discussed how land can be used for recreational reasons, agriculture, residential, commercial, industrial, and conservation areas. We learned what each of these represent, then stuttered to work on a cut-and-paste activity where we have to match the community, with its definition and human needs.

Inquiry into Math
We went further into exploring mass and capacity by ordering weights/capacities from least to greatest, brainstorming items that can represent each unit of measurement, and looked at the steps we should take when solving word problems. To solve word problems, remember, we use our Problem Solving Chart. We did an example together then began working on questions on our own. Often times we get stuck on questions because we do not break the question down to interpret the information we know, along with the information we need to find out.
In the final step, once you have added 1200 + 1200 several times to give you a total of 4000ml or more, then you have to count how many times you added 1200 to figure out how many days it took.

Novel Study
As a class we read Chapters 3 and 4. Students are to complete the worksheets for these chapters.
