Inquiry into Language:
We continued to summarize the information on our topics for our International board. Tomorrow we will be working on putting our board together for the event in the afternoon. Everyone worked very well on putting their components together. We loved having the cultural music playing in the background. At times we danced and sang along to these!

Inquiry into Math:
We began our new unit of Exploring Number Patterns today. Today we looked specifically at exploring patterns in a hundreds chart. As you can see, the expectations for communicating number patterns, number rules & position rules are in the chart paper images below. We completed the examples together, having students come up to show the pattern in the hundreds chart, along with write out our rules for those patterns. The terms we use for our position rule & number rule depend  on whether a number pattern is increasing or decreasing.

We also looked at identifying the pattern that occurs when we display two patterns on the same hundreds chart. We are to look at the squares that are shaded by both colours as these are the numbers that represent the new number pattern.

Unit of Inquiry:
We began our Summative tasks for the first unit. Each student was provided with a graphic organizer that is reflective of the choice they selected to display their learning. These graphic organizers are used for them to brainstorm the 4 main points they want to address for each of the topics they selected. This was allowed to be written in point form as they will be elaborating on these points in their actual written component. We had mini conferences based on the method they chose to display their work to ensure each of us understands the expectations of that method and clarified any uncertain information. I am really excited to see how these turn out as I've heard some interesting ideas being discussed.

Agenda:
- Math-- two worksheets on number patterns in a hundreds chart (only the pages with stars on the tops)
- Read for 15 minutes
- Spelling Test tomorrow
** Field trip forms and money due TOMORROW!!!
** International Day Tomorrow-- come dressed in cultural clothing or orange,
white and green to reflect the colours of the Indian flag
