Unit of Inquiry
Students read silently for 15 minutes. We then watched a video on Monocot and Dicot plants. Students began to work on a cut-and-paste activity to demonstrate their understanding of the difference between monocot and dicot plants. In addition to this, they are required to draw and example of each type of plant that shows how the structure of the plant is different from the other using the information they learned today.

Inquiry into Language
We began our new novel study "The Secret Garden" today. As a class we read through the first chapter and discussed what happened. As we read, students are required to write down any words they are unfamiliar with in their novel study dictionary. Students are then responsible to find the meaning of that word by using a dictionary or online search engine.

RECESS/ LUNCH

Wizard of Oz Rehearsal
We practiced our performance for Art's Night.

Inquiry into Math
We reviewed how to use the appropriate symbols to represent parallel lines, equal side lengths and right angles in polygons. Students learned and practiced how to draw 3D shapes using graph paper and on plain white paper. We did some examples together, then they began their homework.

Inquiry into Language
Students independently read their levelled books for 30 minutes.

RECESS/ LUNCH

Inquiry into Math
Today we worked on creating the skeletons of 3D solids. We talked about the importance behind how we sketch the nets of our 3D solids and how the position of each polygon has to be in a position that if you folded that net it would form the 3D solid.

Unit of Inquiry
We learned about a variety of plant adaptations today through the book "Amazing Plant Powers." Using the information learned throughout the book and our Unit of Inquiry, students are to complete a cut-and-paste activity along with a definition worksheet.

Inquiry into Language
Students worked on Lesson 26 in their Spellers. Instead of completing weekly sentences in their language duo tang, students are to complete a paragraph using at least 7 list words. The paragraphs are supposed to make sense and they are to underline the spelling words they used throughout their paragraph.

Unit of Inquiry
We learned about Photosynthesis today. We watched a video introducing this concept, then paraphrased a paragraph about photosynthesis as a class. Students generated the ideas to make sure we addressed all of the important information from the paragraph in our paraphrase. We then went back to look at the original paragraph and read over ours to see if we included all important information. Students copied this paraphrase into their UOI duo tangs.
