Reading Buddies
We took some time to review our classroom expectations today to ensure that we are following these expectations throughout the next four weeks. We then had reading buddies with Ms. Gandy's grade 1 class.
RECESS/ LUNCH
Inquiry into Math
At the beginning of math class we completed our transformational geometry test. After this we began our final unit on length, perimeter and area. We discussed what the linear dimensions depth, width, length, height and thickness are, and went over some examples of when and where we could use these linear dimensions. Students worked on their math homework once they completed their test.
When using a ruler to measure how long something is, students had the misconception that they are to count each dash on their ruler and this determines how long that line is. We went over that this was incorrect, and instead they are to count the number of jumps from the beginning of the line to the end to solve how long it is. We also discussed how you can take the measurement of where your line starts and subtract this from the value of where your line ends to solve how long your line is.

We began our final unit of inquiry today by learning what media literacy is and different types of media. Students are to complete the media package for homework today. After discussing a little bit about media, we began to re-write our Fractured Fairytales from earlier this year on printing paper so we can get this book published.
