Unit of Inquiry
Today students spent a lot of time working on there UOI summatives. Most students have moved on to writing their paragraph that they will use to present their argument. We have recognized that some of our arguments are less than 2 minutes, therefore we have gone back to add more supporting details to make our argument stronger.

RECESS/ LUNCH

During recess we completed our Novel Study Heidi. This is such a wonderful story. Ask your child about it and the emotions they felt while reading this book.

Students continued working on their summatives.

Inquiry into Math
We began by reviewing what we learned yesterday. Today's lesson focussed on predicting the number of outcomes that will occur in situations where we have different probabilities for each outcome. As a class we went over the steps we have to follow.
Then, we completed an example of how we would apply these steps to a situation. It's important to remember when we use these steps: when we are predicting the number of times each outcome will occur if we complete ____ trials. Will completing this examples, students read the step we have to follow and then told me what I would have to do. Before beginning a problem, it's important to use our problem solving strategy of what we know and what we need to solve in order to help us determine what exactly it is asking us to do.
The colour of the steps corresponds to the steps from above.

Students then began to complete their homework. I continue to emphasize the importance of showing your work. By showing your work, you are able to identify the specific steps you need to apply in order to answer what the question is asking.

Predictions are not written as fractions
Probability IS written as a fraction
Students then completed each question on the review that involved using blocks. The rest of their math review is to be completed at home tonight.
The excitement after seeing what was actually inside the bag!
