Unit of Inquiry
Students explored a variety of landforms and bodies of water through a mix-and-match activity. Students were to read the descriptions provided, then match the descriptions with their according pictures. Once I confirmed their matches were correct, students played the matching game to see who could find the most correct cards. Students then completed a landforms quiz at the end of class.
RECESS/ LUNCH
Students who did not complete their homework from Monday worked on it during recess.
Reading Buddies
We had reading buddies with Mr. Foster's Grade 1 class today.
Inquiry into Math
We reviewed all of the bills and coins that represent Canadian money from greatest to smallest value. Using our knowledge of these bills and coins, not including the penny as we no longer use this, students drew 2 representations of the value written on the board on their own sheets of paper.
As a class we then discussed how to draw a representation for a dollar amount using the least amount of bills and coins. When drawing this, it's important to reflect on whether some of the coins can be put together to make a bigger valued coin/bill. (ex. if you have 2 dimes and 1 nickel you can turn this into a quarter). Students are to use the problem solving skills we have been working on to answer some of the word problems.
RECESS/ LUNCH
During recess, we watched a series of videos that taught us what imaginative narratives. Through these videos we also learned about the different steps we have to take when writing a narrative. We will be practicing narrative writing over the next week or two.
- Spelling Lesson 20 + sentences due tomorrow
- Spelling Test tomorrow
- Read for 25 minutes
